2001 - Upon seeing the terrible conditions that Afghan
refugees were living in at the Jalozai refugee camp
outside of Peshawar, MEPO raised emergency funds through
an article, Children Die
in Plastic Tents, describing the conditions and
appealing for funds to buy tents and food. As a result
of the generosity of the people who responded, MEPO
was able to provide new strong tents for 300 families
and provided $500 worth of food and cooking supplies
for the destitute families living in plastic tents.
