MEPO is a non-profit charity organization founded to serve the needy through medical and educational aid, working with the goal of peace.

During its first three years, from its founding in 1999 until 2002, MEPO served in Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, conducting services such as free health camps, establishment and support for schools and clinics especially in refugee camps and poor rural villages, and providing assistance to poverty-stricken families.

The House of Flowers Orphanage
In the fall of 2002, however, MEPO began focusing its energy on one main project: establishing and running the House of Flowers Orphanage in Kabul, Afghanistan, in collaboration with HEWAD, an Afghan NGO. Since its inception, the House of Flowers has been an oasis of peace, providing a caring home and an enriching Montessori-style school for some of Afghanistan’s poorest children.  Today there are 28 children ages 6 to 13 living at the House of Flowers.

The House of Flowers is run solely on the private donations and volunteer efforts of caring and compassionate individuals around the world. MEPO has no overhead costs, since all administration in the US and organizational work in Afghanistan is done by MEPO staff volunteers. Thus 100% of every donation goes directly to the children of the House of Flowers.
