Mostafa's letter, continued...

It is a pleasure to share with you that, despite the incredible challenges whether managerial coordination, financial issues or security concerns, this year the House of Flowers enters its eighth year of establishment. The House has provided a safe home and an educational place for dozens of orphans and underprivileged children over the last eight years. We have pushed this project through the weeks, months and years without ever having really known how long we would be able to continue running the House of Flowers given the financial and security constraints throughout our existence, but each year, supporters have come through, and life continues uninterrupted at the House of Flowers, thanks to this care and support. Each time we send out an update and an appeal, we are never disappointed, and we know these children will not be forgotten.

 

 

In the meantime, had it not been for the perseverance and dedication of our staff through the difficult years of living and commuting in dangerous and chaotic Kabul, in addition to the horrific economic inflation that makes everyone’s lives so hard, the House of Flowers would have come to a halt years back. Our nine staff love the children and the children love them; it is an incredible chemistry beyond words. The House is an island of love and sentimental energy. There is never a dull moment in that House; creativity, games, songs, art, sports are constant activities; it is simply overwhelming once you put your foot in that House.

MEPO’s staff and volunteers would like to thank all the donors for the generous gift of another year, the 8^th year, during which the children in that ‘island of love’, the House of Flowers, have flourished.
