Volunteering with MEPO

An integral part of MEPO’s mission of spreading peace and understanding is to involve others in this work of serving. While for most people this may mean a welcome and worthy donation, some may wish to become more involved by serving as a volunteer. In the past, MEPO was able to receive many volunteers : doctors who worked at health camps, nurses who gave medical trainings in villages, medical students who volunteered at clinics and received training in tropical medicine at the same time, and volunteers who assisted at health camps and schools, from teaching English to teaching children how to brush their teeth.

At this time, however, MEPO is not yet prepared to take outside volunteers in Afghanistan. This is due to the high security risks. It is, however, our hope and plan that in the future as things settle down in Afghanistan this will be possible, and that volunteers will be able to serve in clinics, schools and villages, offering support to the recovering communities in whatever way is most needed.

Please continue to check our website for updates about volunteer opportunities with MEPO, or contact us for more information about how you might be able to help in other ways.

My advice to you is that if you want peace of mind, you shall have to serve others to the best of your ability.-Chetanananda Swami
